Open in Google Maps The Plan Five days around the northernmost tip of Vietnam on a road cut by hand into limestone and named, without irony, the Happiness Road. Sixteen ethnic minorities took six years to carve it; the karst it crosses took the earth four hundred million. In the middle sits the Ma Pi Leng Pass – Vietnamese riders call it the king of passes – with the Nho Que a green thread eight hundred metres below. Rented 150s, not big bikes: nothing here needs power, everything needs brakes.
